About Basia Zarzycka

A born Romantic

Basia would consider it a great compliment to have her work described as romantic, and she readily admits that this is precisely what it is. For many years she ran her remarkable shop in the heart of London, on Sloane Square in Chelsea — the only place she could imagine it to be.

Her magical store attracted clients who valued individuality, discretion and quality above convention and the ordinary. Basia always felt at home in Chelsea: at the centre of a great and vibrant city, yet within her shop one entered a place quite unlike anywhere else.

Hilary Alexander OBE, former Fashion Director of The Daily Telegraph, once described it as “the most romantic shop in London”.

Basia has since moved her studio from London to the English countryside, where she continues to design and create. She can be contacted through her Mayfair office.

First and Formost an Artist

Basia is, first and foremost, an artist. For more than thirty years she has used her exceptional talent to create some of the most remarkable and sought-after wedding dresses and accessories for an international clientele that has included film stars and royalty. She has never sought to capitalise on the identity of her clients; instead, she remains driven purely by the desire to create.

A Women who Creates

To read a fascinating article about Basia Zarzycka, please follow the link below to the publication Women Who Create, Summer 2016 issue, which featured her work. Basia was also featured in an earlier issue, which can be viewed here.

Her shop was a place where members of the aristocracy, figures from the music industry, television and film could often be found alongside those who simply appreciated individuality and craftsmanship. Famous or not, Basia’s clients shared a common appreciation for her unique work and the beauty she creates.
